It's Thursday...Tablescape & Vintage Thingie!

Thursday, February 11, 2010
I'm sharing at both Tablescape Thursday @ BNOTP and Coloradolady's Vintage Thingie Thursday. Thank you ladies for hosting these lovely events each week!

I wanted to share my RED tablescape from a dinner party for 8 last week. Although it isn’t very Valentine-ish, it is my favorite….RED. The tablecloth came from K-mart. I spied it on their site when someone was showing off some napkin rings from there on their blog (sorry, I don’t remember what blog that was), the dishes are a mix of 2 different sets from TJMaxx manufactured by Queen. I bought a set for 8 of each but really like the look of mixing them together. The flatware is my everyday stuff. The big tall glasses came from Dollar Tree. The votives are from my catering goodies. The vintage goodies in the middle of the table (oil lamp, Bakelite topped S&P’s and nesting hens) are all from various sources…mostly junking. The lamp was my Great-Grandmother Jessie Eavenson’s. I’ll post my menu for Foodie Friday!

I would love to be a guest at that table, the tablescape is gorgeous! My grandma kept her hard candy in one of those hens. We could never sneak the cover off without making it go clink, so she knew when we were snitching.

Oh such a pretty table. I'm sure whatever you served at your dinner party was enhanced by the beautiful dishes, tablecloth, candles and lamp. The atmosphere you created is perfect for fine dining. Most excellent!

Your table looks so vintage with your Grandmothers lamp and the clear glass pieces, and of course the table cloth with it's vintage toile like pattern. So pretty with the candles and lamp light. Thanks for visiting my VTT Vintage Quilt post today. You mentioned that you see vintage quilt tops at antique shops...I have made many of them into table coverings without machine quilting them, but lining them without batting and straight line stitching them together on a regular sewing machine. Wow! what a table scape they make....Sue

  1. This turned out so great. I love the plates and they look wonderful with the tablecloth. The old things mixed with the new makes a great look.

  1. Your tablescape is lovely and I really love your plates with that gorgeous tablecloth! So pretty and perfect for Valentine's Day!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment, and I think you should get yourself a pie safe, but only if you'll fill it with yummy pies and not "stuff" like mine is.

Hi Gail, your toile pattern in the tablecloth and dishes with the red and white transfer pattern are beautiful. They give an old fashioned feel with the added vintage clear glass treasures. The oil lamp and nesting hen is my fave. I have that same nesting hen. Nice job it all looks inviting.

    Hugs, Jeanne

Love the hurricane lamp. They are so cool. I like being in an antique store and seeing all the different ones they have. Even way back when people liked a variety.

  1. LOVE the dishes!! I have been looking at those patterns on replacements and ebay, but I have not seen them at TJ Maxx, but then we have been stuck here in the frozen tundra and nowhere near a TJ Maxx. Beautiful table I just love the toile:-)

  1. I really like this, beautiful reds! Love the tablecloth and dishes together!
