From The Hymnal ~ Near To The Heart of God

Saturday, July 23, 2011

He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart. Isaiah 40:11

The chorus of this hymn is one I sing often in my private praise and worship time with the Lord.

Near To The Heart of God

There is a place of quiet rest,
near to the heart of God;
a place where sin cannot molest,

O Jesus, blest Redeemer,
sent from the heart of God,
hold us who wait before thee
near to the heart of God.

There is a place of comfort sweet,
near to the heart of God;
a place where we our Savior meet,
near to the heart of God.

O Jesus, blest Redeemer,
sent from the heart of God,
hold us who wait before thee
near to the heart of God.

There is place a place of full release,
near to the heart of God;
a place where all is joy and peace,
near to the heart of God.

O Jesus, blest Redeemer,
sent from the heart of God,
hold us who wait before thee
near to the heart of God.

    Oh how I love this old song....Our church music today is so contemporary and it saddens me that my grandchildren may never know all the beautiful old hymns...

    Good post

    I never give thought to this.. as I enjoy the contemporary worship, but oh so does these hymns have a place- and Shug, you are so right, my kids have only been exposed lightly to Hymns - I shall do my part in keeping these alive for my grands (when that time comes!)
    Have a super Sunday Gail!

    I knew when I saw the title of the hymn that I would want to listen to the version you picked. It certainly didn't disappoint! We still sing that one at church. I love it.
